The transit system in this city is PURE ASS.

It's not that bad- not as bad as Boston, anyway.

The best thing about Boston are streets like Tremont and Columbus that end and then magically start somewhere else. Giving lost people directions was always great because you can tell they wished they never asked by the time you were done.

There's public transportation in Detroit? I remember having to walk 1 hour each walk to get to a Kroger or Miejers for grocery shopping. It was faster than waiting for the bus that came every 30 minutes or hour. Someone should burn that city down.

Transit systems in rich areas suck.

Case in point:

Northern California, Bay Area. Look at Alameda county. Poor. Run down. Ghetto. Great transit system. Busses come like every freaking 3 minutes outside my old apartment. Ahh. I can get to the UPS center, I can get to Oakland Chinatown, I can go anywhere without my car. I can go shopping at Costco, Ranch 99, Safeway, etc. The bus stops have schedules on them and even benches. Sometimes its even covered from the rain. Busses slow down my driving, and annoy me cuz they stop so freaking often.

Now look at Santa Clara County, especially the more affluent areas (this means exclude East SJ and Milpitas, and look at Sunnyvale, Cupertino, West SJ). It takes a fvcking hour to get from my old house to my new house (San Jose, CA to Cupertino) using a bus when it takes something like 8 minutes by car. Bus stops here don't even have benches, much less a schedule. Hell, I don't even see busses. Maybe one or two a day at most.

I thought you lived in MD?

Anyway, what hospital? Memorial or York? I live a few blocks from Memorial hospital, and I see a rabbit transit bus on Mt. Rose or Hill quite frequently.

Anyway, york is not a large city. You can't expect a transit system that can get you everywhere on a timely basis. buy a decent bike--you can get from point a to point b pretty easily--nothing is TOO far away. And as for gas...we are cheaper than MD right now, and actually cheaper than most of the other areas on York County. I find the Sunoco at the corner of Belmot and East market is usually very competitive, as well as the Hess at haines and Market. I drove by the Sheetz on Queen Street just off Exit 16 this evening and I think I'm gonna have to start checking them out, too. they were $2.69 this evening.

I did live in MD. I moved.

That Sheetz on Queen is RAWK. They just went up from $2.65, though. Best prices in town (either them or Rudders on Richland, or Sunoco or some other crap on Sherman)

York Hospital, I wasn't even AWARE that there was another hospital 😛

And yeah. The buses are everywhere. Just nowhere of any use to me. You can't drive on Rathton without getting stuck behind one of the York Hospital shuttles (running every 45 seconds with nobody on them, EVAR).

I actually live in the little mini-ghetto behind York College.
