The transferrability of Dell warranties

i recently emailed a seller on ebay about how he said his 2005fpw had a 3yr warranty from dell, and that in fact dell does not allow the transfer of warranties from own to resale owner. this is what he had to say on that.

I have sold these monitors before, no one has ever called about any problems. If there is a problem I can always call Dell and tell them that the monitor is at a different location, It doesn't matter to them where the monitor is being used. I don't know specifically about monitors but I do know for sure that Dell allows to transfer the warranties for laptops and complete systems and the last time I spoke to them about transferring a montior's warranty the CSR told me if its a Dell Monitor only Dell would make it and can easily find when the monitor was made to see if it is still under warranty.

im just trying to get the final word on the subject. if what this seller says is true then i may look into ebay as a viable option for getting that monitor.

could someone give me a definitive answer on the subject and possibly a link to where dell says they dont allow the warranty transfer, seeing as how i couldnt find it myself.

it talks largely about "systems" which i knew was a possiblity. but does that also entail the accessories like that monitor? am i missing that somewhere?

monitors are iffy. they are not transferable on dell's tag transfer site for all pcs with a tag.

the purchaser is the owner of the monitor, they probably will ask the original buyer to call as the name is attached to the monitor serial number.

Dell LCD warranties are NOT TRANSFERRABLE.

If there are ever any problems during the remainder of the 3 years you are at the mercy of the original owner.

I would only buy direct from Dell. they should be releasing some new coupons soon 🙂

All warranties are transferrable via dells website, I even did it internationally about 3 months ago for my laptop.

Fixed.

It's like transferring a warranty for a digicam or printer, it just doesn't happen.

well i let the guy know he was wrong for offering a 3 yr dell warranty. he basically tried to tell me he was a reseller. dont resellers have to be like licensed or something? he was a moron nonetheless and told me that since he hadnt had a problem up to that point that everything was fine. also he noted that dell representatives had assured him that the warranties were still intact.

he also said something that caught my eye. it went something like "what does dell care if my brother across the country uses the monitor." this alone tells me he knows hes wrong.
