DEAR LORD! :|

normal = 40 mins
traffic = 1 hour
today = 1 hour 45 mins

normal = no incidents
traffic = 1 close incident
today = 2 close incidents and 1 minor incident.

normal = 1 road rage moment
traffic = 1 road rage moment
today = 2 road rage moments and 1 bloody desire to kill someone.

It was like that in Atlanta yesterday. It started to rain a bit, so I left work at 6:30 thinking the roads would be somewhat clear. It ended up taking me 1.5 hours to go about 15 miles.

A $16 toll in and out of every city will fix that right up according to Bloomberg and all supporters of such a thing.

If I lived in NY, I'd drop the idea of a car. There is no doubt you don't have to walk far to find some kind of fun.

And for longer trips, take a taxi. I mean, you live in New York. If you can't afford a taxi, how can you afford a car?

Bloomberg is insane. You know, if I try to map a route from North Bergen, NJ (just across the river) to NYC and tell the GPS to "avoid toll roads", it eventually crashes probably running out of memory after trying to reroute through pretty much every road in North America?

Everyone coming into the city is ***already*** paying insane tolls. Adding an additional roadblock grabbing more $$ at 96th street is only going to keep the traffic at more of a standstill.

The state of disrepair he his administration has brought all the roads and subways into may have something to do with the traffic...

Why is it at 99% of the cities "construction" sites, the "construction" tool being used is a jackhammer?

Supposedly it has worked for London.

Any Brits in here that can confirm?

Your're missing the point.

The point is to stop people from driving into the city unnecessarily. A lot of people still drive even though they can use mass transit rather easily. The more expensive it becomes, the less people will drive.

its the same logic Boston used to help their parking issue, parking is bad in Boston I?m sure everyone knows this, people would illegally park and get a ticket because it was alot cheaper then paying a garage or the meter, it was like a 12$ ticket, staying 8+ hours was easily 3x that in a parking garage, so to stop this they raised the ticket to 50$, people for the most part found legal places to park

Didn't work in my opinion no, just diverts all the traffic to the toll-free roads, away from the 'congestion charge'! Not sure about if you actually go into the centre, never driven in there.

Considering the idea is to reduce congestion in the city, I don't think your opinion tells us much of anything.
