Social security tax 7.5%
Highest state income tax rate 9.5%
Thats 52% right there and then you have to include all the other taxes we pay here like property taxes, sales taxes, car taxes, tolls on roads, you get the picture.
Then to top that off health care and education is not included like it is in Denmark. And were looking pretty close to Denmark in taxes paid sans the services.

It says that tax revenue is about 50% of GDP. In the US the number seems to be about 35%
