Top Gear had a Toyota pickup. 2nd hand, £1000 ($1600~). It still works.
They drove it into a tree at ~30mph.
They dumped it in the Bristol channel where it was totally submerged and dragged out to sea a bit.
They drove it through a wooden hut/shed.
They dropped a caravan on it.
They hit it with a wrecking ball (though not very hard)
They put burning torches in the cab and bed of it.
They put it atop a 240 foot block of flats that was due to be destroyed.
And afterwards it still worked, without ANY spare parts whatsoever.
The chassis was cracked, but held together by the bodywork, now they're building a plinth to put it on.
If you really want a brick, don't get a Hummer, get a Toyota.
Now THAT's a car.
