For those of you who can't read the title of the topic, what, in your opinion, are the ten must-have homebrew apps for someone with a hacked PSP?

That's pretty much it. Go crazy.

No, it's not. It's possible (with custom firmware) to play games from your PC via USB using usbhostfs.

It's even possible via wifi, but it's slow & fiddly and many games don't work with nethostfs AFAIK.

The 10 apps I use most at the moment are:

  • iRShell - Awesome shell. Features include file manipulation (copying, renaming, etc.), IR remote, nethostfs/usbhostfs support (wifi/usb file transfer), mp3 player (you can have it running in the BG whilst running emulators, etc.), support for app plugins (which you can associate with a specific file extension and have it launch from the file browser when needed) - it comes with zip/rar extraction plugins which are quite useful. Unfortunately, iRShell is no longer maintained. :(
  • gpSP - Full speed GBA emulator.
  • PiMPStreamer - Media streaming client. Allows you to stream content off a PC running the server. It converts the media on the fly so it doesn't have to be <=480x272 and all that sh!t (ie. you can pretty much watch anything over it).
  • PSPoste - Nice little email client with support for multiple accounts.
  • PSPRadio - Internet radio (shoutcast) client.
  • PSPSSH - An ssh client (obviously ;)).
  • Snes9x TYL - SNES emulator.
  • NesterJ - NES emulator.
  • Sudoku (Chau Le) - Gotta have my sudoku. :p There are a bunch of homebrew sudoku apps for the PSP, but this one is the most polished IMO.
  • PSPComic - Relatively new comic (CBR/CBZ) viewer.

The Danzeff OSK is much better than Sony's. Most homebrew (including pspssh) uses it these days and I'm pretty fast with it now. :p

Also, there are a bunch of commonly used commands available for quick selection (you can add your own to the command.txt).

Why do you need to SSH from your psp anyway?
I check my mail (pine) and the bboard on SDF whilst on the go (there are open APs everywhere), mount stuff, etc. on my mythtv box, use it to kill X on my desktop in the event that it locks up (rare occurrence ;)).. that kind of thing.

I generally don't *need* to ssh from my PSP, but if I have this little device with me that allows me to do so, why not?

Great piece of software.

Also, been rocking Ruckus. Gets you some funny looks behind the decks, though.
