The Toothbrush, Instrument of Satan

linkage

On June 20th, the scholars of the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) published a report of a series of articles by Egyptian journalist Wael Al-Abrashi on their excellent website, www.memri.org. Written for the weekly Roz Al-Yousef, the thrust of the series was a brave, reasoned and critical analysis of the connection between Wahhabist Islam and terrorism. However, MEMRI?s report carries a gem of an illustration of just how off the wall, how insane these people are. Here?s what Al-Abrashi wrote:

?Wahhabism attributes great importance to the (outward) forms of Islam ? growing a beard, ankle-length garments for men and the requirement to use toothpicks instead of the satanic Western toothbrush. ?

So there you have it, folks, proof positive of the connection between dental and spiritual health. These guys really believe, with all their hearts and souls, that you will go to Hell for brushing your teeth. At least we now know why the Coalition forces routed the Taliban and Al-Qa?eda in the Afghan phase of the Counterjihad so quickly. They must have been able to smell their breath from miles away. Instead of the Global Positioning Satellite bomb, they could have used Global Positioning Smelling bombs and still hit the target. To the late Osama?s foibles of fascism and megalomania can be added halitosis. The Jalalabad branch of K-Mart must have done a roaring trade in breathmints.

I did not know the toothbrush was evil....

Well ... now I found out I could have saved a fortune in ortho bills on the Grand kids... and a trip to the mid east in the bargin...

You know, that blows my mind. I never understood why such superficial things have any bearing on religion/spirituality. Religion is meant to be something internal, the outward stuff is insignificant. Along the lines of Western churches and their predisposition for grandiose buildings and decoration...

Although, in defense of other Muslims, Wahhabism is as extreme as religion gets...
