The time to buy a CRT HDTV now?

I have a truckload of gamecube and Wii and Xbox games I like to play that support 480p and widescreen. Twilight Princess, F-Zero GX etc. Just to name a few. But when I play them on your typical HDTV today over the best input available (in this case component) they look AWFUL. No doubt upscaling 480p to 1080p just isn't a good idea. On the other hand, 480i standard def TV's just don't do these games justice. So I'm thinking. Those CRT HDTV's are said to support 480p/1080i. Can CRT's actually swap resolutions and run them natively? Because that would be a huge advantage over the fixed pixel displays of today for these kinds of titles. I'm thinking of something like this.

I don't think anything is worth going back to those monstrosities, unless you want a tiny screen and can get it for free. Keep in mind you have to generally pay people to recycle these things, which is a pain in the ass.

I do believe you are right, that CRT technology would treat a 800x600 image as a 800x600 image, not 800x600 image reshaped to fit 1024x768 panel. But the difference in quality must be negligible. http://www.howtogeek.com/119117/htg-explains-why-using-your-monitors-native-resolution-is-important/

If you have the space for it and don't mind being unable to get rid of it, why not?
