I just finished watching the Time Machine from the 60s and am confused by a few things.

1. Why were his friends so unimpressed by the time machine? If I would have seen something like I'd still be freaking out how cool it was.

2. Why settle on a civilization with a bunch of idiots, other than feeling superior to every one?

3. What did his maid do after he left? Once you get things cleaned you're pretty much done.

1, they were in shock and thought the idea was ludicrous
2, love
3, what the maid did after he was considered gone was probably simple, no paycheck, onto next place that pays

I might just accept 1. and 3., but the 2. still confuses me. How could someone fall in love for such a moron like Weena? I could make a joke saying she would be great since she wouldn't talk back, but you need someone you can talk with and listen.

As corny as it may sound, you don't need a reason for love. If you do, you're not in love.
