I saw that movie when it came out in the early 80's. It messed with my young, then fragile mind. I haven't seen it since. :p

I thought you were gonna tell us they were gonna remake The Thing again. There are some movies you just don't touch. This is one of them.
Ever play the PC game of the same name? Takes place shortly after the movie ends...

Anyway, if they were to remake the movie and they were looking for the lead, who do you think would make the best McReady? (Kurt Russell's character)

Vin Diesel?
Ewan McGregor?
Keanu? woah...
Christian Bale?
who?

Even the out of ideas hollywood won't not remake a remake. But you never know. CGI would ruin it anyway.

I never saw the 1951 version.... is it anything even remotely scary. Considering even the 1982 version is so old that the scary parts have been dulled by lack of special effects.

Nothing whatsoever scary. But you get the charm of that old fashioned dialogue that's 10X more wry than anything you can get today.

If you have Starz you can also see the 80's version on Starz OnDemand. They also just dropped the MA rated King Arthur from OnDemand so if you missed it you're out of luck. :(

MA rated King Arthur? What kind of scene got it an MA rating? :D

Whoever hasn't seen the remake of the Thing should. It has some cool scenes like when the thing takes over the dog and explodes out of the cieling.

I am talking about "The Thing" circa 1982. 1950's horror flicks make me laugh

I've only seen the remake. I thought the special effects were good, creepy store and some very memorable scenes. All it needed was a digital remastering (old tape).

Plus Kurt Russell rocks the casbah.

One of the few movies with no female role.

Also, if I recall this was one of those movies that wasn't heralded when it came out, but it ended up doing well, sorta like Terminator.

The 1980s really had some great scifi films.
