The thing was so MASSIVELY HUGE, I didn't think I could handle it.

I was able to ride the penny farthing I just bought for the shop!

No, that is not a picture of me on it, but rest assured pictures WILL be forthcoming!

It's going to be completely torn down next week and it's getting a new red powder coat paint job. I also bought a antique brass oil lantern that was made for one of these back in the day.

When it's all done, I WILL get pics of me riding it!

I promise! :)

BTW: The front wheel on this beast is four feet tall! And that makes it taller over all than I am! ;)

Fixed!

how do you climb off of it with out tipping over?

There is a small peg that sticks out about 1 1/2 feet up on the frame, to get on it, you put your foot on the peg, run forward and once you get going you jump up and land on the seat with your feet on the pedals and way you go. To get off you set back onto the same peg and jump down.

5' 6" and as you can see from the pic, the thing sticks up a foot or so above the top of the wheel....

In principle it is very appealing. On a gut level I fear falling flat on my face with a solid rubber tire running over my nuts.

I will give you $20 to video you doing laps at the Alpenrose Velodrome in Portland...

It could happen. :)

Not sure if $20 would cover the gas up and back though!

No, I wish I did.

I've always wanted one of those, but having one is a LOT of work!!

I tried in the past.

I DO have a hat like the one the guy is wearing in the pic though! :)

Just thinking of the many ways to crash on that thing makes me cringe.

Many, MANY people died doing just that!

They are NOT the safest mode of transportation ever conceived ....
