I'm just asking for opinions on if you think "the texas chainsaw massacre" story is true?? im not sure myself.

IIRC it was 'based on a true story' which means that there were once some kids in a van, and someone in a house nearby had a chainsaw....

It's BASED on a true story. The true story has nothing to do with chainsaws. Wikipedia will answer your questions.

Yeah its about the one serial killer in Minnesota (or was it Wisconsin, or maybe somewhere else) that had cut people up and put them in his freezer. Its Ed Gein.

When I found out what story it was really based on, I couldn't believe that they even get to pass it off as being based on a true story. Thats like saying Jurassic Park was based on a true story since it deals with cloning an animal.

WTF, they're making a prequel movie to the remake.

From Wiki:
Contrary to popular belief, the film does not depict factual events, but instead was (like the films Psycho and The Silence of the Lambs) loosely inspired by Ed Gein, who, while he did wear human skin, acted alone and did not use a chainsaw. Those who do believe the film was based on actual events will try to back up their statements with similar events in Texas, all of which had nothing to do with the film. Although the film's opening would have one believe that the events are factual, it was merely a scare tactic to frighten the audience. (Incidentally, the opening voice-over is performed by John Larroquette.) In the remade film, the crimescene walkthrough was not real either.
