And it looks amazing. Right aspect ratio too (well close enough), it's 1.85, and apparently it's 1.77. Hard to believe all these years they've been showing it in 4:3 SD.

Oh yea hard to believe they've been showing it in 4:3 SD cus who cares that's all we've had for 50+yrs.
You must have been missing something because HDTV has been around for at least ten years now, and in the Boston area it's been around longer than that.

Yes HDTV's have been around for 10yrs but if you hadn't heard, the switch from analogue to digital OTA wasn't 10yrs ago.

It's only proper that they show this in conjunction with the release of the iPad.
I don't quite get that reference. I'm Jewish, and Moses was the Mesiah (for Christians and Jews) but if you're saying the iPad is the second coming wouldn't a more appropriate Heston movie be Ben-Hur?;)

zero- They were showing HD movies/shows on the HD channels long before OTA SD was eliminated (as long as HD existed).

I think what zero's saying is that this is the first broadcast ever of the Ten Commandments in HD.

Classic movie. It was the original "epic" that set the standard for all others to come.

Well it is my 2nd fave Heston movie next to Ben-Hur. Now that in HD would make me cream my pants.

The 'switch' doesn't mean there were not broadcast markets already offering Digital TeleVision (DTV). In fact, the FCC adopted the ATSC specification around c.1995. Also, HDTV's have bee around for more than ten years, but just not widely available at boob-tube only electronic stores.

Oh, and by the way, one did not need DTV to watch High-Definition.
