The seti@home hall is very active just now. Petrus supplied three new very efficient weapons: i7-860 @2.8GHz, i7-860 @ 3.1 GHz and i7-920 @3.3GHz. These three computers generate and unload approx 20 K/day ... :D
Two GPUs are on their way too ... and two quad core Phenoms too! This will be a lot of fun ...

And there won't be a worry about heat in the upcoming winter in the fort. ;)

Well, there may be. The weather guys predict a severe winter - at least in Sweden.
And these babies are not as hot as the Pentium 4 CPUs were. I can run 16 comps im my basement - without air condition ...
I could not do that when I had Pentium CPUs, and that is why I preferred AMD.

As mentioned before in this thread... I am envious of everyone who has a much faster comp than me. It has been over three years since my last build... Of course everyone is ignoring this thread and didn't notice...

I think back to the SETI classic days, when I had shelves filled with crunchers, a "crack rack" of sorts and the cool basement location to run my space heaters. Now I barely can run DPAD without overheating in my new "improved" digs.

Ahhh memories..

I can not ignore memories ... I had two Pentium 3 in my room on a shelf. No heating was necessary in that room ...

I have not upgraded my comps for 2 years - except for what I purchsed from other crunchers here @ AnandTech.
I saved up for one i7 ... and got three: one i bought stuff for, one I won in a raffle and one i bought parts for by selling two slower computers.
The net effect? Almost a doubling of my output ...

But lets ignore that ...

What happened? Nothing happened, if you believe the thread title and ultimate ignoring of anything that could have, might have, or did but went unnoticed anyway and therefore didn't happen.

Please ignore the BS that overflowed into this post from the paper I'm writing for a Computer Ethics class...

Ethics? What is ethics with computers? Computers have no ethics.

Please ignore the fact I haven't slept in two days because of alcohol and girlfriend. My brain is on survival mode, not "ignore" mode.

Oh that's not the worst of it. It's a computer ethics class taught by a lawyer who doesn't know how to use a computer. We spend the first 15-30 (max has been 45) minutes helping him figure out his web page. :|

From Infoworlds geek genius test this year:

What is the #1 question asked by computer tech support staff?

1. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
2. Is it plugged in?
3. Is it currently on fire?
4. Are you a complete idiot?

Yes, it's #1. If you've seen the IT crowd you get an extra point.

I would only think of bad juvenile pranks for that class. Oh the lack of sleep.

Oh, and it's not really serial posting because there are hours between posts.

I went to talk to a professor about an assignment, and after I asked my initial questions, he goes "So I have a question--when do you sleep?" :) Apparently he noticed the times on the emails I was sending. hehe

It has happened to me before. Once, a project was due by electronic server submission (script to post to a 733 permissioned folder) and I hit send at 6:00 computer time (6:01 server time) and it rejected mine, so I sent an email time-stamped at 6:01 and she still rejected my project.

"Score one for liquor and poor judgment." Yay 'The Big Bang Theory'. I love that TV show.
