The TeAm is about to slip back to 15th overall

I guess there's no way to stop the ESL to do what they're about to do. Their crunching power is just massive and impressive. I think it's great they decided to do DC in general. 🙂

As you well know, Peter... there is running max and then there is RUNNING MAX. 😀

With the races we've been having lately, it's natural out lead has been cut. Ideally, we crunch for science and not WU's. And BOINC is not the full measure of the TeAm, but a large-ish fraction.

All that being said, there are project with lower point values (Squash them damn bugs.. 😉) and projects with normal or above average (not like Nano@H) WU totals. Granted, herding cats is a logistical challenge, but if science benefited and TA could hold or advance?

Hmmmm.

The ESL team really is something to look at. I've got a higher rac than their highest member (8k ppd) but there is a few thousand active members. *whistles*

Yeah, there are projects and then there are other projects.
I really would like to know which of the good-science projects gives "most for the bang" - and for which processor. Some years ago, Einsten was just great for AMD-processors and gave a lot for the buck. Now? is it time we did a list - I am sure some one has the numbers ...

Yeah and some of them (like -jim, and quite a few others) are quite LARGE cats.

OT:
How was it @ school ... some 3 dozens years ago?

Tiger tiger burning bright,
in the forrest of the night.
What immortal hand or eye ...

Now it is a liiittle bit 😉 different:

Cruncher, cruncher glowing bright,
in the basement late @ night.
And what tweeking hand or eye,
Increased thy crunching ability ...

More MHz, please?

If we could get the BOINC and proxy authentication worked out, I could throw a couple of computers from work that way.

I have tried a few of the suggestions, but none of them work here. For now, I am only able to do a couple of projects at work.. 🙁

Einstein has the power application out. I have seen anywhere from 30% to over 50% increase on workunit speeds. And you still get the same credit for less time, as the same amount of work is still being done. The application (4.36) can only be used on CPUs with SSE, but if you can it makes a big difference.

Other than that, I too would love to have a list of which DC projects have CPU favorites.

The reality is we'd have to increase output more than 3 fold to hold them off.🙁

I would be interested in seeing a list of "good" projects though...especially for my 64 bit linux quads.

How does 3x+1 shape up? Where do you find this info anyway???

boinc newb!!😉

I do have a couple of new cores to put to work soon🙂

To what project are you sending the new cores to?

OC your CPU's more guys! gogogogogogogogo

Don't you guys think our team does REALLY well, considering how small our user base is?

It's a new laptop and it runs hot on DC so I'm a little reluctant to toast it yet!

I'll see if I can scare up another Celery 2.2, and I might be able to coax the dual p3-866 into running again, but it's somewhat debateable of whether it's worth the electrical cost or not.

I am working on a Linux project to see if I can make a crackrack out of several 1.4 to 1.7 GHz cpu/boards I've got. Gonna try and run 'em off of usb flash drive instead of hard drives and see how that goes. 🙂

I killed my Inspiron 9300 battery because of the excess heat. At leas remove the battery when/if you cunch.

The only thing I am using for BOINC projects are my home computers. All work computers are on SOB because it plays nice with the way I need to set the work computers up.

What issues do you have with a proxy that you cant use BOINC?

well... i've just brought my farm back to TA after being absent for a little while from the team... I was having a personal protest against the inconsistency of how another forum was being run.... but i'm back now... with a few quads in tow.

Welcome back, dajeepster! At least here, you can rest assured our inconsistency is dependably consistent.

I'll take that as a "group compliment". 😉
