The T-Mobile G2: The Hinge

I've been going back and forth between a G2 and a MT4G for my next phone, once full root is achieved. Each G2 that I've played with has had loose hinges, screens hang from the body, etc. I started a thread at XDA discussing it, and several users noted that newer G2 models apparently have a spring loaded mechanism in the Z hinge, tightening it up significantly. None of the G2s I've played with are this tight. If I could get one like this, it'd be an easy decision to get the G2.

So, question is then, if I walk into a B&M store, how many G2s will they have to open up before I found one with the good hinge?

I dunno, the reviews said it's really not a problem unless you're lying on your back and using the keyboard.

Can't say I've ever used a phone like that, but if I were ever say trapped in the bottom of a ravine, with my arm or leg pinned under a boulder, oh wait, this is TMobile, no reception in a ravine anyway :D

As a G2 owner, I'd say it isn't too big of a deal (especially compared to selective text), but I'd still like that spring loaded version.

You guys can take a look other Youtube videos of the G2, some of these hinges are looser than a bangkok whore. Hold the phone upright horizontally by the keyboard, and the screen falls open. That would piss me off.

I have played with two in B&M stores...one was flat out broken, the other loose.

Why on earth did they try to reinvent the wheel? The slide-out keyboards are all fine mechanisms.
