Yep, looks like the book and show had a very different ending. The book ending was rather dumb and the show ending doesn't seem like it was any better.

The first book was rather good. The second was decent. The third was moronic.

While the show was different, there were "better" things added and some worse thing as well. Such as attempting to fill plot holes from the book with story elements that really added even more plotholes or just deus-ex machina the crudola out of them.

Decent concept on the old story of vampires. Like the idea but the execution was lacking in the end.

That went out with a bang. Hard to believe I watched this show through and through since season 1 episode 1. Overall a great action packed show. Might buy the Blu-ray collection.

Now a question: Gus and pals were collecting silver bars, but for what reason? I thought perhaps they'd use them for bullets, but I don't recall anywhere in the final episodes touching on that. What was the reason for collecting silver bars?

Silver bars in the book were being used to coat things to be used as weapons. Like silver coated swords or nail studded bats.

That's all fine and well, but nothing came of their heist of that safe. Why did they include it in the show?
