anyone that's posting here has no solid evidence one way or the other, so why get your panties in a bunch?
but based on the cia's past history, they most likely would have someone working for them or for some other press outlet...i'd be disappointed if we had NO intelligence at all that existed inside Iraq.

The CIA would never pick a high profile news reporter or editor. Based on the ex-spooks I have met their prefered pick is an academic with spotless credendtials under the guise of international scientific pursuit. Publicly the individiual is often seen as an american in exile devoted to his academic studies. They are very social but appear devoted to their studies which are of such an esoteric nature that any government individuals spying on them don't last a week because of the sheer boredom. They don't want people that others suspect.

The Stories CNN Didn't Run About Iraq...

Here's one from AJ: Republican Guard commander cut deal with US forces

Here
The mystery of what happened to the Iraqi Republican Guard defending Baghdad appears to have been solved if a report in today's Le Monde is to be believed.

The French daily reports that Maher Sufyan, Commander of the Republican Guard reached an agreement with American forces in which he ordered his forces to surrender in exchange for his transfer via an American Apache helicopter to an undisclosed safe haven.

Quoting anonymous sources, Le Monde?s correspondent in Baghdad said that Sufyan ordered all Republican Guard forces to lay down their arms and go home. Shortly thereafter an Apache helicopter escorted Sufyan from the Al Rashid camp, east of Baghdad, to an unknown location.

Maher Sufyan is not included on the infamous ?deck of cards? created by US defence officials to highlight the most wanted individuals from the Saddam Hussein government. Iraq?s popular Information Minister, Mohammed Saeed Al Sahaf, Naji Sabri, Iraq?s Foreign Minister and Medhat Oumid, the minister of health are also not included on the list.
Really, they should listen to the free French press, no wait, they control the media too....
Of course the French "found" this one. :p

Is this really a surprise. There was much talk about this before the shooting started.

Only the "details".

;)

I doubt the details as an apache is only a 2 seater. Pilot and weapons officer, I doubt he got a ride in an apache.

You doubt the integrity of Al-Jazeera? LOL....

I wouldn't be suprised though ,we did drop 40 million leaflets telling them to surrender, stuff like this has been reported on CNN too....
