I have a few thousand dollars wasting away in a savings account and am seriously considering investing a bit of it. I have no experience in the game and would just like to know how any of you that do invest got started. Do most of you just do it online or do you go through a person?

i got started because i was interested in new and upcoming technologies (primarily fuel cells about 10 years ago). i ended up researching the technology as well as the companies.

If your just asking about online vs. traditional broker, then it depends on how involved you want to be - and how comfortable you are with the idea of online investment. If you are asking for specific investment advice, then you need to be more specific about what your goals, and expectations are, as well as how comfortable you are with risk.
