Who else here lives a little "off the beaten path"?

At my house me have no public Water/Sewer/Gas/Garbage Pickup

Also the end of my road is not even paved.... and this is in NJ.. the most populated state per square mile!

About all we have is electric and... get this.. Digital! cable 😉

For a little back-story.. The last 25 years of my life were spent in towns with every public service mentioned above.. but now I'm a little bit
away from "civilization"

I've lived in "the sticks" for about half my life all together. Currently, we're living in the city.. but it seems we go in cycles...

Get tired of the city, move up into the mountains(only about ~50 miles away here in Portland, OR).. live there for a few years, get tired of that.. move back to the city.

That's the way it's gone since I can remember.. lol.

I'm not gonna lie, I love having my closest neighbor a few hundred feet away, but sometimes it's nice to not have to drive 15 minutes fora gallon of milk.

I live in Ridgeville SC, before that Macedonia SC. Almost everything in SC is in the woods.

We have power and phones; no cable no dsl.

About 30 mins from charleston about 15 mins to summerville, works out great. Not a neighbor for atleast a football field.

20 miles from downtown Palm Springs and living on a dirt road 0.7 miles from a major highway.

. . . At my house we have no public Water/Sewer/Gas/Garbage Pickup . . .

OR . . .

*gasp*

no broadband (except satellite) or cable

However, it is very very peaceful and rural (you can actually hear your hair grow at night) 😉
(plus, did I mention? - it's 20 miles from downtown PS)

😀

Broadband was the only requirement when we picked this house 😉

I paid $25,000 for my house and 2-1/2 acres, 20 years ago . . . 😀

Internet wasn't available, let alone broadband. 😛

Actually we rent the place...

No cable, dsl, sewer, city water, garbage, gas. nothing. road was paved last year. 5 miles from I-90, 10 miles from town.

What do we do for fun?

I shut my computer off, turned off the TV and got to watch the best lightening show I ever say in SoCal just now . . . I guess the action was centered about 40 miles away near Joshua Tree . . . the entire Southern sky would light up and stay lit with more continuous lightening strikes to ground then i have ever witnessed . . . fortunately - just like during the Yucca Valley flood (5 miles away) last week and the 29 Palms flood yesterday (25 miles) we just got gentle rain.
