I had the idea of starting this thread because there are quite a few of us who do stats and sometimes we may need to discuss stuff ... (?)

Spacehead with almost all of the active and non-alpha, non-beta BOINC projects,
rise4310 with SIMAP
CyGoR and BMC with Rosetta
amd.borg with DPAD
Rattledagger with Seti@home
GLeeM with Folding@home
Fardringle with the Comprehensive BOINC project list
Petrusbroder with MalariaControl and the TAS-projects

and some I may have forgotten (sorry mates, PM me and I'll edit this post)!

We could use this thread to discuss the how-to-do, seek help when not at home, discuss scripts, finer points of the stats etc.

A kind of stats knowledge depository.

What do you think stats masters, TeAm members? We could ask - after some time and if this is of interest - that the Mods pin this thread.

I'm also doing daily SOB stats.


Not really much else to add at this point.
I need to go do some BOINC stats now... it's been 2 weeks since i've done them 😱

Once I get moved and settled in at the end of this month, I'll be looking at whether or not it's worth writing BOINC stats... there are pretty good ones out there already... not sure if I have much to add to what they already do... I currently supply D2OL, TSC and SOB stats on my site... FaD and Lifemapper were also there but are finished... and DPAD has been wrong since the last time they changed how points were computed...

Do all people from that list in petrusbrodurs post use some sort of script to create the stats thread?
I thought I read that Rattledagger did his Seti@home statistics manually..

If anyone needs any help in creating a script to create a copy/paste stats thread, please post this request
here and I might be able to help out..

Yes, everything is done manually by doing the calculations on 20 kg heavy rock-slabs so both heavy and a time-consuming process of knocking-off pieces of the stone to do the neccessary calculations... 😛









Uhm, not so bad, isn't using a script, but it's basically copy stats from web-site over to Excel, re-copy to remove all the extra "garbage", sort after total-credit, copy-in the stats from yesterday's sheet, make sure team-names lines-up, "define" anand_today, _total, _rac and copy formula from yesterday and the stats is done.

This is quickly done in less than 5 minutes, and the only "problem" is that the stats-site normally grabs the stats from isn't always updated when wants to do the stats...

Well, one other problem, must also remember to fix the f...... decimal-point so the stats gets correct... :frown:


The time-consuming part is to make "forum-readable" table... 🙁
Hmm, scripting... haven't looked on scripting in Excel... but hang on, you can use if-statements, example:
if(b2="TeAm AnandTech";d2;m2)

Hmm... this should hopefully work to also do the neccessary formatting... :beer:

Well soni wrote this .net app for me that dl the stats and I just generate them with a few clicks. It was first used when I did the Lifemapper stats and he just made a few changes and now I'm using it to do the DPAD stats. By hand it used to take maybe 20min, now it's more like 2min.. 😀

So I owe soni bigtime!!! Thanx mate! 😉

I didn't use any scripts to do the BOINC stats & i don't to do the SoB stats either, but those only take about 5 minutes to do anyway.

BTW Peter, you can take my name off that list for the BOINC stats as i said in the other thread i'm not going to be doing them anymore.
