How scalable is this game going to be? I'm on a laptop (with a dedicated 8400) and am not sure how it'll run. It runs the creature creator fine enough for me but not enough is going on there to really give an idea of how the full game will be. Has anybody heard anything?

Whats the matter? Not enough brown and grey for your mature gaming tastes?

Anyway, all of Wright's games have provided at least some hours of solid entertainment. I don't see why Spore, a title he seems to have worked so diligently on, would be any different.

Have a look at the Specs on the spore site

Looks like it's capped at 30 fps. At least the creature creator is.

I hate it when developers decide that I can take all my expensive high-end hardware and stow it, cause performance won't ever get better.

I get that most people won't care about this, but it makes me sad that devs do this in 2008.

And to pre-empt the usual comeback, I can see (or at least feel) the difference between 30 and 60 fps. :)

Then you'd hate nearly every RTS out there since they are capped at 30fps- it must be horrible to watch

Dawn of War, World in Conflict, Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, Warcraft 3, Homeworld, Total War, Black & White, Ground Control

None of these cap the framerate at 30 fps as far as I know. Command & Conquer 3 and Battle for Middle earth however do.

Older 2D RTS was probably capped to, but I didn't invest in expensive graphics cards to play those

I just can't wait for that game, and I'm ready to swallow all of the DRM it's going to throw at me, I'm paying for that masterpiece of a game, the best thing to happen to PC gaming in a while.

I bet I'm going to have a little fun with this game, even if it's just so I can make the most ridiculous creatures I can come up with, and litteraly 'pwn' the crap out of other hippy like peaceloving ridiculous looking creatures, by zapping them with my ufo :D Heh, just thought about this, but I bet this is a good game for girls as well, haha. Just like if you have a wii, they love it...

Will wright makes fantastic games, its when he gives the franchises away to other teams that they go to crap...

I expect Spore to be fantastic, but RIP simicity.

I can see why some are saying 'too cute'. None of the creatures look fearsome, dangerous, or mean. If I make a creature I tend to think 'monster' and I'd want it to look scary. None of them invoked scary at all IMO. You would think they could easily allow for that in the game.

I'm disappointed because the creature creator is not flexible at all, yes I know what creative people can do but I shouldn't need to mess around with the creator 10 hours to finally have a creature to my liking, they have to be perfectly symmetrical and the art style is not that cool.

The Creature Creator hyped me down quite a bit but I'm still looking forward to it, I gotta say the game looked much cooler when I first heard about it in early 2007.

Have a look at the sporepedia, there's plenty that fit the 'mean, scary' format.
