I got 2 more episodes till I finish the first season. Only reason I am this far is because a lot of folks say the series is good. Well that and some of the humor. Other than that, I'm not really digging this whole soap opera mafia trying to fit into a high class neighborhood thing going on. Is it going keep going on like this or does the series mafia shit start happening later on?

Mafia shit happens but it is somewhat based around his family life too. Certain episodes are more into the gangster stuff but it certainly isn't non stop gangster stuff.

I thought it was one of the best series I've ever watched but it may not be your cup of tea. A lot of characters take a season or more to really get fleshed out.

Learn to look at the show as a dark comedy rather than as a crime drama. That's how it was written.

Just finished the first season and what you said is pretty much how I ended up feeling about it. Should have just came in with a blank slate, like I normally do. I totally came into this expecting something else.

I am probably one of the few people that have never seen an episode of this show. I remember when it first came out I didn't have HBO, but everyone was raving about it. I thought someday I would start watching, but of course I would want to start from the beginning. Now I can watch the whole thing on HBOGO, but I just don't have the desire anymore. I don't want to waste any time with it when there are so many other shows at my fingertips that seem just as interesting. But I keep telling myself that one day I will find the time and finally see what everyone has been talking about for the last decade.

There's a reason they named the show after his blood family, not his crime family.

I miss The Sopranos. That was the last time men in America were able to go into work and safely talk about Big Pussy without getting fired.

I really like it, though I would argue that later shows (particularly Breaking Bad) elevated the serialized drama game to greater heights than the Sopranos. There are a lot of clunker episodes of the Sopranos, and even some very weak multi-episode arcs (like the gay Vito stuff).
