Why not?

Because half the episode is censored out?

Anyone who is a true fan either saw it on HBO or bought/rented the DVDs.

This gets them more exposure and the syndication makes them more money.

So, again: Why not?

It's crap Amused. It's like TNT showing Gladiator or Seven over and over again edited. It takes away from the added value of the show. If you're going to show an adult show/movie, show it in full.

You don't understand. The Soprano's crew are making money. It may be crap to you, but it's gold to them and I doubt they give two sh!ts what you think.

No sh!t. This isn't about David Chase and crew. It's about A&E dishing out 2.5 million per syndicated episode for a stripped down version of the Sopranos. It may be doing well now, but time will tell whether Sopranos-Lite will turn out well for them.

I like it. Its not as good as watching the hbo version but even a neutered episode of the sopranos owns 95% of the rest of the crap on tv, especially late at night.

I bet it will. There are many, many people out there who don't have HBO and never will. Even stripped down the plots remain intact.

Plus people are lazy, they might have the Sopranos DVD's but will still watch the stripped version on TV. I do this all the time, recently I watched TV stripped versions of Goodfellas, Full Metal Jacket, and Godfather even though I have all of those movies on DVD.
