Isn't the lack of band 12 a pretty big deal for the Z3C/T-Mobile?

Also anybody know if I could simply lie and sign up for the edu discount? You don't need an edu email address but they ask you provide what school you attend/work at. Do they double check?

band 12 is for rural coverage / indoor. If you are in an area decent enough (eg Seattle/Portland/NYC....), or if you supplement indoors w/ WiFi calling, it's fine.

also, band 12 is only going to be deployed in certain regions, not all

up to you what you want to do w/ Sony edu discount. I have SonyEPP through my company, same 10%

Disappointed it won't be useful for me on ATT. I had my eye on them after the battery tests.

if you're doing off-contract (EDGE / off contract), then this is fine

or just sell your on-contract phone, get the Z3c @ $480(or more)... cheap for a flagship compact phone (vs iPHone 6 at $650)

I've read the Z3C won't support WiFi calling because it's a T-Mobile feature only offered by phones sold at T-Mobile.

I'm very worried about building penetration with TMO. Also your link just confused me more. Perhaps I'm just stupid. I only care about the areas I frequent. (NYC, greater LA, Boston.)

yep that's true, but I was talking about general usefulness of band 12 w/ "normal" T-mobile phones

that's why T-mobile has a free test drive

http://explore.t-mobile.com/test-drive-free-trial

uses iPhone 5S (has wifi calling on OS 8, but no band 12). Boston won't be getting band 12 anytime soon because there's an existing TV channel near that spectrum that would cause interference

I'm not going to bite at $530. See if I can get a discount somehow down the road.

Don't want to do the test drive. Using a 4" screen at this point for a week would be torture.

Seems like band 12 is a big question mark. I'm assuming Sony reps will say the Z3C is T-Mobile compatible.

it's around $480 after tax if you have a Discover IT card and Sony EPP/education. maybe it'll drop quickly too, after 3-4 months

Test drive gives you the iPhone 5S and t-mobile sim. If you are currently on AT&T/Verizon, chances are that you can use that sim in your current phone (Sorry sprint users)

Z3 compact is the first electronic item I've seen that's cheaper new in Europe than in the US. I don't think I've ever seen that before. That is crazy.

Man, I was hot and ready to buy this phone (tmo version) until we started seeing S5's with the snapdragon 805 and news of the G3 with the 805 as well. With Sony's 6 month cycle, I'll wait for the Z4 (probably just a z3 with an 805).

Z3 Compact should be particularly appealing for those who want smaller form factors and flagship specs. It looks great on paper and reviews I've read are generally positive.

I really, really want a Z3c to use on T-mobile. Currently using a Nexus 5 and although I love it with its super awesome looks and instant software updates; I just really crave the huge battery life of the Z3c. About 8mm shorter (than the N5) will really help in one handed use and I don't mind it being waterproof with a better camera either!

I haven't plugged in my Z3 compact since Tuesday during the day and it's just hit 20% today, definitely has the best battery life out of any smartphone I've used.

If anyone else has picked one up, how do you like the camera so far? I've been able to get good shots out of it but it doesn't seem like the superior auto mode works very well. So far the camera is the only the only thing that's a little disappointing about the phone, but I think if I use it more and figure out what manual modes work for what then it will end up being a pretty good camera.

It seems like Sony has some magical touch with battery life in Android world. I wonder what that is?

They cheat? j/k

Do they standardize brightness settings etc in these tests? Say one phone has 100nits at 60% brightness but another phone is 200nits at 60%.
