just a thought came across my mind. the song OPP asks are you down with OPP? and everyone, including me goes yea. But i realize i never knew what that meant. google came up with nothing. anyone know what it means?

Other People's Property. It means screwing around w/a woman that is taken by someone else.

By the way, the beat from that song is from "ABC" by the Jackson 5. Just in case you're a hip kid that thinks these rappers come up w/their own stuff. 😉

It gives 3 explanations (iirc) in the "song"

Beastie Boys were the king of resampling beats long before Puff Daddy. Ever listen to Paul's Boutique? Pretty much the whole album was sampled from other sources. The difference is that they did a much better job than Puff Daddy has ever done 🙂

O.P.P., how can I explain it
I'll take it frame by frame it
To have y'all jumpin', shoutin', singin' it
O is for Other, P is for People scratch your temple
The last P...well...that's not that simple
It's sorta like another way to call a cat a kitten
It's five little letters that are missin' here
You get on occasion at the other party as a game 'n
It seems I gotta start to explainin'
Bust it
You ever had a girl and met her on a nice hello?
You get her name and number and then you feelin' real mellow
You get home, wait a day, she's what you wanna know about
Then you call up and it's her girlfriend or her cousin's house
It's not a front, F to the R to the O to the N to the T
It's just her boyfriend's at her house (Boy, that's what is scary)
It's O.P.P. time, other people's what you get it
There's no room for relationships, there's just room to hit it
How many brothers out there know just what I'm gettin' at
Who think it's wrong 'cause I'm splittin' and co-hittin' that
Well if you do, that's O.P.P. and you're not down with it
But if you don't, here's your membership

Property was what stated on radios and mass media because you can't use the word they really meant. In the lyrics, it specifically states a 5 letter word, "another way to call a cat or kitten" 🙂 and it's not property.

I would like to propose a rule on ATOT that noone ever types: 'co-hittin or co-hitten' again. I felt 10 brain cells die reading that and 5 more retyping it to save others.
