On Weezer's just-released Red album, there is a song about the singer's influences called "Heart Songs." Included in with several other stolen lines from songs is this doozy:

"Never gonna give you up."

This from a guy who did a long-running group songwriting experiment on Youtube, so you KNOW the guy knows what he was doing with that line.

I'd say getting people to pay MONEY for a Rick Roll might qualify as the sneakyiest Roll ever.

Edit: I should add that the song was produced by RICK Rubin, too.

ha...I never realized that song was just a bunch of stolen lyrics...

but WTF!!! I had band in high school and we made a song with a just a bunch of one liners from different songs. To think he is gonna make millions and be called genious on something that a bunch high school kids did for fun years ago. Oh well....yet another lost oppurtunity:(

If the song wasn't entirely about older songs, including a bunch of other 80's CRAP, I'd consider it a Rick Roll, but the fact that you can listen to the song and not even catch it means it doesn't count.

Rick Rolls are loud and obvious and intentionally annoying, none of which that line or song fit the bill for.

The next State of the Union should start out with a Rickroll, performed by the president.

When you pause them?

Oh and I guess from the last verse that Nirvana's Nevermind album was the influence for them to start a band. Will the music world ever move away from that album, 20 years of popular music influenced by one release.

Some artist needs to actually mislabel a song on a cd and have it be "Never gonna give you up"...... Now that would either lead to huge sales or the album would flop because of it

I want fscking Rick Roll on Rock Band damnit. Yeah it'd end up being keytar, the bassist would pick his nose for half the song, and the drummer could probably handle it one-handed, BUT I WANT TO SING.

Joe PSAs, catching Raybans with one's face, the Free Hugs Campaign, the Dancing Banana, Will It Blend?, All Your Base Are Belong to Us, One Man Band by Connor Berge, Daft Hands, Daft Bodies, the Sneezing Panda, the Soulja Boy dance (listed on YouTube as "Crank That Soldier Boy"), a CGI Donald Duck and King Kong, Charlie the Unicorn, and the UFO sighting in Haiti Hoax video.
