:music: And spaceboy, I've missed you...

Siamese Dream, start to finish, always blows me away whenever I put it on.

1979 is a good song, and they have a couple of other good songs, but compared to Floyd and Zeppelin they're rank amateurs. We won't even try to compare them to the Beatles.

Supposedly he said that he was getting the band back together. I wonder if this will actually happen. Would love to hear more from them.

Great band. The electronica stuff kind of sucked. Billy can't sing. Still live everything from Mellon Collie back.

I'm not thinking so, nor would I want them to.

I really like Siamese Dreams, but nothing else really did much for me. I hated almost every song off of Mellon Collie, and everything they released after that. That said, they are still better than the vast majority of today's popular bands.

If you had a :meh; that how I would have voted.

the pumpkins are also my favorite band ever, and siamese dream is their best album by far. like cassanova says, it's just perfect, note for note, from start to finish. there's a reason billy corgan got a $1,000,000 publishing advance before he even wrote that album: he's just that good of a songwriter.

my own band is heavily influenced by the siamese dream sound. (shameless plug). 😉 check us out here: The Print.. We just released our first full-length album. I'm pretty proud of it.

Damn truth! He even made Courtney Love sound good! Dunno why he'd collaborate with such a piece of trash, but nonetheless..

he personally wants to get them back together (not sure about the rest of the band), believe he said so in a RS interview awhile back when he was promoting his solo album.

Siamese Dream was the soundtrack to my teen years. It is one of only 2 or 3 albums I can stand to listen to all the way through.

I used to be a fairly big Pumpkins fan. Siamese Dream was my fav. from them. I loved it. I thought it was a great album for the time, with not much else coming close being released around that period. A lot. But I don't think I ever considered it in my top 10 albums list. You know how certain albums bring back good memories? SD does that a bit for me. I was in college when it came out. I haven't listened to it in probably a couple years. I will now! Thanks for the reminder. I also liked Mellon Collie and Gish a lot. I have the Aeroplane Flies High singles box set. Anyone else have this? I wish more bands put out sets like that.
I also have Corgan's Zwan CD, which isn't bad, but not that good either.

I don't understand why people don't like Billy, but to each his own. He's one of the people I always enjoyed listening to the most doing interviews (or reading).

BTW, I have a mint/like new Smashing Pumpkins Star Profile UK import CD/book set I planned to ebay if anyone's interested. Pics: 1, 2, 3, 4.
And a Smashing Pumpkins 48pg book with mainly large photos, in excellent condition, I thought it's time to get rid of. Sample photos: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.
Even if not interested in buying, you might enjoy seeing some of these photos (should have made them bigger).
PM if interested in either.

He stated it in the Chicago Tribute on the day his solo album, TheFutureEmbrace, came out. He also stated it on his website. See here (Jun. 21st, 2005).
Also there (Dec 8th), a picture of his black cat, in a black box (I had to lighten it up in PSP to see it). He should post it here. 😀

I think Stephen Malkmus said it best....

Out on tour with The Smashing Pumpkins, nature kids, they don't have no function, I don't understand what they mean, and I could really give a f***.
