What the? A Bag you put in your toilet and it saves water?

The Smart Flush Bag Could Save You 2,000 Gallons of Water Annually

The Scott Naturals Smart Flush bag offers a safe and easy way to save water at home. When placed in the toilet tank, the material in the bag absorbs water and expands, reducing the amount of water consumed in each flush by up to one liter. A family of four could save 2,000 gallons of water per year by using the Smart Flush bag.

So it just displaces water?

What happened to the good old bricks that they used to tell us to use in school?

I always remembered Rhea Pearlman (Carla from Cheers for those who don't remember) doing a PSA commercial where she said just fill an empty 2 liter soda bottle with water and put it in the tank.

This looks totally idiotic. All it does is reduce the volume of a flush which is already severely inadequate as it is and requires two flushes which wastes even MORE water.

Am I missing something here?
Couldn't you just adjust the float so the tank doesn't fill up as much.

no, no, no, that wouldn't be green! And look, they sell replacement bags for when the flush bag loses it's effectiveness. It's all about the razor blade/printer ink model now when it comes to being green.

It has to be a hoax. I know people are stupid, but I didn't think they could be quite this stupid to want such a product.

-edit-
I see now. You get it for "free" when you buy scotts natural toilet paper. I wonder how much more expense the "natural" toilet paper is?
