The slow decline of half.com

Is it me or is half.com slowly becoming obsolete? I have spent tons of cash at the site, but it seems like amazon.com is becoming more appealing. Not sure when, but half.com has gone from $2.69 for media shipping to $3.25. While amazon.com is $3.49 I am starting to see it as worth it from a shopping perspective.

Why would ebay purposely cripple half.com? You used to be able to post your wishlists, that option is no longer available. Sorry, I'm just baffled why a company who I have used countless times over the years is taking away options, raising prices, and not updating their site.

slowly? ebay neutered it as soon as they bought it

i do buy stuff from half.com, but only obscure things that nobody wants, so the price is very very low

half.com crippled themselves many years ago when they started allowing items to be sold at over half the retail price.

I stopped using that website after they gave out my info to a certain reservationrewards.com. My entire bank info was given away!

They started dying when they stopped offering all the coupons they used to. :|
I used to be able to buy several books just for the cost of shipping!

Ebay has been slowly killing half.com because they can make more money if those books are sold through ebay instead. They've been pushing this for years.

Ebay's business practices in general are questionable. I think they survive in a microsoftish sort of way...by simply buying out threats to their business model while they're small and still forming.

They guy that created Half.com graduated from Penn State. He was used as a case study in my marketing class. Needless to say he is a rich rich man now.

I've only used Half.com to purchase used books (not college textbooks) and it's still a good deal for me. I picked up a hardback of Martin's "A Storm of Swords' a few days ago for $7.50 shipped. Sure, media mail shipping is slow, but I don't mind.

half.com still works. i've been able to get rid of a ton of books/txtbooks that were just sitting on my shelves, made a few hundred
