I never really noticed just how much air traffic fills up the skies until the last 24 hours. Last night it was perfectly clear, all of the stars were shining brightly and it was just wierd not seeing any blinking lights floating across the night.

Today driving to work was much the same. I drive past the airport on my to work. Today is an absolutely beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky, and none of the exhaust streaks left by the jets. It was nothing but blue. I never realized just how much airplanes filled up the sky with the white fluffy streaks that they do until this afternoon.

It was like the calm after the storm.

Creepy, huh.

Here I don't see that many planes, so I'm used to a nice calm day. :)

Its really quite strange to not see contrails. The last 2 days have been nearly perfectly clear.

I noticed it too. I work right next to Hanscom Air Force Base and the entire place is shutdown. Usually 1/2 of the airport is open to civlian traffic. Nothing is in the air today.

I went for a walk at lunchtime. The sky here in northern Mass. was blue with no clouds (not one) and no vapor trails. I didn't even see that many birds up there. The only thing besides the sky was the quarter moon.

It was pretty, but a little spooky.

All I've seen is clouds today, and God's tears. (We're getting rained on in S.FL)

It is strange out there. I had to go to jonnyGURU's place of employment whcih is a couple blocks away from the airport and it is dead quiet. There is normally a plane every couple of minutes.

I work at the Atlanta Airport, and its very odd to be here in my office and not hear the sound of Jets every few minutes. I have also heard that the FAA has now closed the Airports until noon tomorrow

Hopefully this time is used wisely to repair things that need repaired, shore up areas that need shoring up and make preparations for the huge exodus that is coming in the airline industry. Many Americans will not be flying anywhere in the coming months. This has already been a voiced concern of the airline industry to the federal government.
