One must remember that even Hitler was voted in. To give great power to a government clears the way for the next majority to do whatever great goods, and great crimes it sees fit. Do you not see then, that in our lust for a central government that we have also succeeded in removing our own rights?

Stop and wonder how the Patriot act came to pass. There is nothing more unconstitutional in all of our history, and yet it remains to this day an effective law. A law that exiles many natural rights that our entire government was founded to protect. We ourselves have through a strong central government, declared for ourselves that we have no rights and that we must obey the will of the majority. For them to do unto us whatever crimes they see fit.

Both political parties are to blame. Both grow government for their own purposes, be it welfare or police states. They enable each other to do as they see fit, giving government the authority to do anything, unbound by its specified enumerated powers.

This century we will reap the seeds we have sown, because I firmly believe the Patriot Act is only the beginning.

"Don't tempt me Frodo. Understand that I would use this Ring from a desire to do good. But through me... it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine."

The pendulum will swing the other way, both political parties will ebb and flow between periods of rule, but the constant that has remained the same since our countries? creation has been the growth of our central government. It is a travesty that the Republicans have completely abandoned their claim for smaller more controlled forms of government, which was by far the biggest redeeming quality of either party. Now one party will dissolve the right to bear arms, while the other restores the British practices for which we cast them out of our land.

So next time you believe it is the greater good to ignore the constitution, remember the reason we made it. Remember the unjust laws you enable when you tell our central government it can do anything. Then maybe you will recognize the reason why the next law is passed that removes the rights you claim to cherish.

A word of advice, shrink it while you can.

Totally agree :thumbsup:
It's unfortunate the conservative party in the US has become in love with itself. I am all for small state, liberties and freedoms; I don't know if that will be possible. Few governments reduce their size, the people are bribed with their own money.

Like I noted earlier

Repubs = Fascist
Democrats = Socialist

When was the last time either ideology worked for a smaller less instrusive\oppresive govt?

This century we will reap the seeds we have sown, because I firmly believe the Patriot Act is only the beginning.

you can count on it, while repubs work on expanding the powers of the state with regards police like activities. The dems when they get into power will expand the economic power of the govt by swallowing up more tax money through social programs and nationalizing industry that promise to marginalize our economy.

When a person hates themselves and doesn't know it, that hate becomes an unknown source of terror that threatens a person from under the bed. We need massive armies to protect us from the monsters that lurk there. As long as you think the answer is out there, is as in a smaller government, the government will continue to grow. Only psychotherapy can shrink the government, only facing and knowing your fears.

Humanity is upside down living in a wrong world. There are no solutions the upside down can provide that are not upside down. Humanity is on the road to extinction. There is no escape other than to awaken and ask yourself if that's going to happen. Do you see your self hate? Didn't think so.

You confuse Federalism with Authoritarianism. Having a federal government does not imply loss of freedoms any more than a loose confederacy.

Thanks for avoiding the points for smaller government...
