The Size of a GrapeFruit ffs!!!!

So my sis just had an 8 hour operation to remove a meningioma (benign - in most cases - brain tumour) that was the size of a grapefruit! It took up 25% of the total brain space and was wrapped around her optic nerve and was pushing on her Pituatry Gland. She woke up with a headache and a little bit of dopeyness, but that was it!

Scary huh!?

Oh my god! i am glad the surgery went ok! That is scary. I hope everything is going fine for her!

Terribly scary, thank goodness she's OK, hopefully she'll recover with no permanent disfunction.

Thanks. I hope she recovers ok to. The doctors aren't sure what will happen. They said there is a possibility of a stroke, blindness in one eye etc. But thats wrst case scenario. She's tough as nails, like most of my family, she'll be fine 😉

When something's that big, does your brain just get squished?

How did she know to get help for something like this?

yeah, it push the brain over and caused a loss in the quality of her eyesight, caused her to have the left side of her body constantly shake.

She had blood tests because of this, and was asked to have an mri (cat scan kinda) and then they found it. She was pissed off because she had 98% Leukemia when she was 13 (now 28). The doctors said that she had to have surgery to remove it, so she did. Was risky though, about as serious as a heart transplant. That got 95% of it and are going to use chemo or radiotherapy to remove the rest.

Yikes...I wish her the best in the rest of her treatment.

You probably got one from those boneless wings! It couldn't have all come out of your ass!

DUDE...you seen 'Dreamcatcher' yet? I think those wings gave me a poop-weasel!! I can feel it wriggling inside of me... 😉

The docs say it is more then likely benign (not eating type). It was situated between her skull and the layers that protect the brain (mengies). It pushed her brain across and reduced blood flow to certain areas. It took up 25% of the total brain space avaliable.
