The Sims Hot Date?

I was at my cousins house this weekend, and he started to show me the game till I had to go. It seemed pretty sweet, and I think I'd like to get it. But 2 problems-

1)I'm poor and need to find it cheap.
2)I don't play computer games (I'm a console guy) so I'd need to know whether I have to buy the regular sims game, then get the expansion pak.

Any help, flames appreciated.

You do need the original Sims to play the game. It's still selling like hotcakes, so the price will probably be up there for both of them.

You'll need The Sims since Hot Date is just an expansion pack.

I had fun with the game for a couple weeks but got bored with it fast. Once I started rolling in the money there was no challenge to the game and I quit playing it.
Ended up selling it on the FS/FT trade. You might want to try and find it there. Bet you could get both The Sims and Hot Date for $30-$40 shipped.

you need the regular game plus the expansion pack

I thought sims was lame, put a guy and two chicks in this house and they just turned into lesbians, how lame.

You can download it here for free. The Sims that is, I am not sure about availability of the expansion pack.

Of course, that is if you are running or willing to install Linux, which is also free. You can get one particularly popular distribution on Linux here

Yeah Mandrake Gaming Edition is a commercial, retail product. I don't know why the other dude thinks The Sims is a free download.

Also, from what I understand, the Sims packaged w/ Mandrake + TransGaming WineX is an OEM version, not identical to the Windows retail CD.

While the difference might be trivial, I don't know if you can install/run Windows Sims expansion packs on top of the Linux CD.
