anyone else feel like they've been cramming anti-republican jokes down viewers throats lately?

as if it wasn't bad enough for the show to be painfully un-funny, now they're injecting hack political humor into the show.

it's almost as if they're trying to be the reverse of south park... and failing horribly.

I thought the current episodes were awesome, if you don't like them you can always change the channel, I'm sure there are plenty of programs you could watch instead of the Simpsons.

Its not new at all. If you could stomach it 10 years ago I dont know why it bothers you now.

And if you dont like it, dont watch it. They are NOT forcing anything down your throat. Turn off the TV for god sakes.

Some of the new season 18 eps have been really funny, but the last two have had some unfunny political humor that kinda pissed me off and ruined the good of the episode.

simpsons were at its peak in season 5-7 with 6 being the best hands down. as soon as a dem is in office (assuming simpsons is still running at which point) they will make fun of them. simpsons have lost their touch a long time ago, too excentric of plots with wierd random sh!t that doesnt make any sense.

Bart and Lise join a hockey team
Thier lemon tree gets stolen
They go to flanders beach house on vacation
Lisa becomes a vegetarian

Episodes like these made simpsons what it is.
now they can barely stay afloat.

10 years ago the political jokes the Simpson's made were subtle jokes against both parties. Jokes that required some intelligence to understand.

Now it makes infantile jokes against only one party.

Not to mention someone in the writing staff is a Loony Tunes fan and feels the need to keep ripping off their style of physical humor lately.

It's rather sad, actually... how the mighty have fallen.

No, I wasn't being sarcastic. This current batch of the GOP is the most corrupt in the history of the USA. If you haven't been paying attention to national politics, then you must be under 15. If you are over 15, I recommend turning off WoW for a just a few minutes and see how your (or your parents') tax dollars are funding torture, an illegal invasion of Iraq, and right-wing homophobia and racism.

Alternative, keep playing WoW and posting on Anandtech, which together constitutes a fun world in which to live.

I agree with the OP. As a gigantic fan of the simpsons I will watch every episode, but I just popped in my advanced release DVD yesterday and watched "The Joy of Sect"

Boy this show really lost its edge from Season 9 - Season 17... I guess that's expected.

They rely too much on stupid unfunny (to me) one liners i.e. Nelsons "hah-hah" and dumb jokes about SuDoku and drawing wangs, instead of good well thought out jokes (i.e. he's obviously the strongest mind we've ever dealt with)

I know, when they starting talking about how much soldier's that have given their lives to defense of the country suck I though that was truly over the top. Or the part where they pissed on the graves of those in Arlington cemetery, just tasteless. The part where the dumbest recruits got into infantry surely a tip of the hat towards the idea that only the dumbest get into infantry.

I can't even imagine where they got the idea that standards are being lowered or that maybe recruiters are being underhanded to get more people to sign up.

Perhaps the portion where they poured alcohol into the resevoir just gives ideas to terrorist on getting our soldiers drunk! And I think we all know the proper time after any holiday to critize anyone remotely related to said holiday is three days and the Simpsons was clearly only two days after Veteran's Day.

In any case I though the episode was ok but not great, saw most of the jokes coming miles away (though the avacado was great). I didn't think the show was terribly offensive or in bad taste.
