I have been debating reading The Silmarillion. I really dont have much time nowadays to really just sit down and read a book but is it good read for those that have read it?

When I read it I found it kind of boring compared to the Hobbit and the LOTR series.
Lots of "history" of middle earth.

Some of it yes, some no. However, the boring parts are required to understand the good parts.

Its a lot like the bible actually - history of the world, with a few stories in depth. I thought it was really good.

Hard to call it "good" or "bad", but it certainly gives you the lowdown on why things are the way they are in the LOTR universe. I'd give it a read.

It's a lot like reading a history or religious text. Once you can choke it down once, though, it's a lot of fun the second time through, once you know what parts to skim, and which ones to savor. You'll find out very quickly if you wouldn't just be better off re-reading the trilogy.
