Very nice. But damn, the price on that thing has gone up significantly...

that's why I wanted to get one now rather than later. 2008-9 was a great time to buy, unfortunately I was just out of college then. I'd say prices are up 5-10k over the last 2-3 years, depending on condition. A little higher than "pre recession" prices again.

The car is amazing looking OP. Congrats!

Just one question, why is this car worth so much money? 50k is serious money. You can probably get a used GTR.

I am a Acura Fan myself. I have a super slow TL but it is my baby.

You can buy a higher mileage (~120k) 1991-1992 that looks very similar to his car, for about $30-35k still. $50k because his is newer and probably much lower mileage (I didn't see the mileage listed).

These cars are rare, very reliable, look great by modern standards, and handle excellent due to their mid-engine and low weight (aluminum). They aged better than almost any car from the 90s IMO.

Sure a GTR would be faster, but the NSX is still a lot of fun to drive (manual trans) and feels exotic, more engaging, much much lighter, more exclusive and has a wonderful driving position/ergonomics/steering. You nearly sit right on the ground.

pretty much spot on. My car has ~54k miles after the 900 mile drive back home.
from the early cars to the 2001, many improvements were made: bigger/more powerful engine, 6spd gearbox in 1997, improved further in 2000. Better/more reliable ABS system, larger brakes. quieter/more refined valvetrain. better leather inside. more reliable head gaskets, immobilizer, improved drive by wire and traction control, etc. etc.

IMO 2001 is the best year as it has all the updates and the classic popups. no major mechanical changes were made for the 2002+ model.
as a bonus, the car is at the bottom of it's depreciation curve.

the rarity is nice too. I see at least 1 GTR a week in Pittsburgh. At least 1 corvette a day. I see MAYBE 1 NSX/year (although I know of 5-6 local owners). Not counting mine of course :D

Didn't read the whole thread, but what did it run you?

Edit: now i see it, 50K ish. Good thing these are pretty much done depreciating; just can't put a boatload of miles on it.

Personally, I would rather take the NSX at $50K but which other exotics can you get for 50K which will have performance and reliability in the ballpark? Any later model Ferraris or 911 or MB at that price bracket?

Ironically, one of the factor for the initial success of NSX was its low price compared to its peers when it came out.

I think 50k is a lot of money but if this thing is as nice as everyone says it is and it is ULTRA reliable(having maintenance of honda accord) I can see why it is 50k.

The car looks sick and the OP is right. You never see these on the road. GTRs are everywhere here. I would be interested to see what gets parked at the front of the valet. GTR/Vette or the NSX. I would say NSX

Beautiful body lines that still look kick-ass nearly 20+ years after it's first year offered and yes, I also can't help but think of "The Wolf" as well LOL..
