I didn't watch it but I make good money and I love what I do. The trick is to limit yourself and work for the right reasons.

A lot of people would have far more money if they cut back on unnecessary things. They work just so they can buy more stuff, which in turn makes work boring and them poor, and they're never happy because they always need more.

IMO success is a personal thing, and generally, it's what makes you happy. The societal version of success is to be rich and be full of money and be super high on the corporate ladder and all that stuff, but really if you're not happy then what's the point? I put myself more like the 2nd person in that video but I consider myself successful, I'm happy, not really all that stressed, but still have the main things that I've always wanted since I was a kid. Got a house, car, decent job, close to family, and generally in a low stress life setting. I pretty much reached the peak of where I've always wanted to be, anything else I achieve in the future is just a bonus. Of course human nature is we always want more, but I'd have to say I'm happy where I am now and that counts more for whatever society thinks is considered success.

This only works for a small percentage of people. If people didn't want/need anything, they'd have no reason to work. Few people WANT to work and if they did it wouldn't be a job job, it would be a hobby job - which most people will fail at - or not make enough money to live on. Not everyone can be Bill Gates or Zuckerberg, or Musk. There is only so much room.

The reality is you HAVE to work, and most likely at some point you are going to be bored with it. Only a small percentage of people have the skillsets, networking, and a good amount of luck to just go through life doing what they love and dictating hours and money. Most of those people were born into it. The average person had to be in the right place at the right time. No matter how happy someone is now, things happen an life changes. The real happy people are the people who accept life isn't 100% roses and can settle into new and different situations without melting down. You can see on here the people who will completely lose it because their 'happy' life will be fleeting and they base their happiness on what they've accomplished now and thinking it will last forever.

People often find this view cynical, but it's the reality of the world and most people can't take it. As mentioned, happiness is a personal thing. Myself, while I respect the hell out of people who run their own business, I have no desire to do so, at least not as primary income. I work so I can do the things I want to do. Without work, I'd not be able to, and if I had nothing to spend money on, I wouldn't be working. I'd be out writing bad music that no one listens to and playing gigs that no one shows up to.
