The Shield...

...is one of the most entertaining shows I've seen in a long time. My brother Netflixed Seasons 1 and 2 (and soon Season 3 in February) in anticipation of Season 4 starting this spring. After watching season 1 in marathon mode, I'm officially hooked. (I also must admit, I don't know if I have the patience to watch shows once a week any longer, after the advent of full TV seasons on DVD )

Vic Mackey reminds me a lot of John "Sleepy" Estes from the Mad Bull 34 anime series... violent badass hooker-benefactor cop who may not be 100% straightedge, but believes the ends justify the means... also the characters/situations/twists seem to be a lot deeper and more interesting than a lot of other cop dramas. Plus there are flat out hilarious, laugh-out-loud moments too, always a welcome thing.

Excellent show overall. Can't wait to dive into Season 2

Good show but after a couple of seasons it no longer seems realistic. But still wildly entertaining. Better than NYPD Blue, worse than the Wire.

I also hear I need to get into the Wire. Actually a close friend of mine is a rapper and has had two of his songs featured on the soundtrack :thumbsup:

It's jumped the shark slightly, but is still entertaining. Vic Mackey ranks right up there with Tony Soprano as the most compelling character on TV.

<---Another person who can't wait for Season 4 to start. I think Season 4 starts in March. I didn't find anything on their website. Another FX show I've been watching is Rescue Me.

24 is better than the shield. season 2 was better than season 1 in the shield. the shield is a better show to watch if you don't want to be confined to your tv for days at a time, because each episode isn't entirely contingent upon the previous one

I just watched the entire first season in 2 days, finished the last one early this afternoon. That show fuggin rawks!!!

Easily one of the best cop dramas I've ever watched. The Wire and Street Time are the only other shows I've seen closed to this calibur. Awesome stuff
