Is this the kind of show where if you havent' seen previous seasons, it will ruin it for you if you start on season 5?

You probably won't understand half of the crap that's going on and it might sour you on the show.

Man, this is better than any bowl week

Star Gate, SG Atlantis, Battle Star Galactica, the Shield, and the grand daddy of them all, 24 coming back in a 10 day period.

I have it on a season pass on my TIVO and have been watching reruns just to get me even more excited.

The previous seasons are available on DVD if you want to get caught up before the new season starts!

* Previous season SPOILER ALERT*

There are only a couple of core concepts you have to understand to be able to jump right in. In short:

Vic runs the strike team - Vic, Shane, Lem & Ronnie. They kick ass & take names, cut corners to nab bad guys and line their pockets. Vic is getting divorced and one of his kids has autism.

Shane is Vic's best friend and is marrying a very hormonal woman with a psycho mom.

Lem has an uneasy truce with Shane following the "burning" incident below.

Ronnie is the straight man of the bunch

Captain Aceveda (now Councilman Aceveda) wants to get Vic but has been too busy watching his own ass and screwing people to get ahead to complete the job.

The Strike team ripped off the Armenian Mob for millions. The tension brought on by trying to not get caught by either the police or the mob put a big rift in the team. Vic killed the head of the Armenian Mob to take the heat off them and Lem burned almost all of the money in order to make their problem "go away" Shane had a big problem with Lem after that..

Julien is a beat cop who is gay but hates being gay so he got married and is having kids.

Claudette and Dutch are honest detectives. Claudette was almost Captain Aceveda's replacement but she screwed herself out of the job. Claudette is self-destructively anti political and Dutch as an awesome detective but total Dork. He and Vic hate each other.

Captain Monica Rawling replaced Aceveda and was a no nonsense reformer who got screwed out of her job at the end of the last season.

You now know enough to jump into the new season without being completely and utterly lost. I am sure I have missed a whole lot as I have condensed four complicated and action packed seasons into a few paragraphs. Still, it's enough to get started on...

Another pretty big thing that will probably come up this season:

In the first episode of the series, Vic kills another cop that was teamed up with the strike team to spy on them. He made it look like he was shot by a perp. Also, shane was there when it happened, but I don't think the other 2 know.

Oh he most certainly did kill Margos - it was on the other night.

Vic tricks Margos into wanting to kill a lackey for betraying him and then when Margos shows up at the guy's house he shoots him dead. He did this without the rest of the strike team's involvement because he felt responsible for the danger they have been in.

Oh yeah, I forgot his 3rd kid also has it...

And I missed a lot of things, but had to leave a lot out due to not wanting to type up 4 seasons worth of complete plot summaries... :p

The promos for this season really have me psyched. Vic Mackey and Jim Profit are two of the best bad guys in TV history!

I dah no idea who Jim Profit was until I looked him up. I promptly added the show to my netflix queue. Hopefully it is as good as it sounds...
