The Shell Game with 4X?

Anyone remember this game, where you have to guess which shell the con-artist is hiding the pea under. Need some help finding the AGP 4X (pea) somewhere in my system (the shells). Here is what I've done in the last two weeks to help fill in the blanks (no cons).
Been working with Matrox to increase the quality of my G400 Max on the KA7-100 mobo by updating just about everything. These updates were recommended by Matrox as the best fix/settings to date. Here's the run down:
KA7-100 = RY-BOO to TY Bios
Via chipset = Ver 4.23 to Ver 4.24 drivers
Matrox G400 Max = Ver 5.25 to Ver 5.41 drivers & 1.5 to 1.6A Bios
Now, I thought, all was fine until Matrox and I assumed "4X disabled" was 2X in the Bios and I downloaded WCPUID to find out. According to this little program, 4X abled and disabled are both running at 2X. What may I ask happened to AGP 4X? Does anyone know a fix for this set back? I have the feeling I need to re-install one or more of these updates, but which one(s).

I'm one of those rookies, so please be patient with any advice and guidance.

Thank you,

Polock 😱
