The "semester moving dilemma"

Old rig, PIII 1GHz, needs new purpose in my home.
Can go in any room, but i prefer it stays in mine.
thinking about the closet... fileserver applications...
mostly music and picture files...
Anyway, what are your experiences with old machines in need of a new purpose ?

In all honesty a fileserver is real nice as the number of computers in your house go up. But with only 2 computers what the point? Try and turn it into a video recorder or just as a web machine. I use my second machine as an internet machine near my family room. That way I can waste my time twice as efficiently by watching tv/movies, and surfing at the same time.

Unless you plan on setting up some sort of home server to play around with, I'd just sell it. Of course if someone in your family has need for it and you have the room to set it up then...

that network also has my sister's laptop and my parents desktop machine...
