The Secret

What do you think, real or bs?

The Secret

I'll try a poll.

Edit: Okay, a summary.

Basically argues that by thinking about things you attract them (this is "The Secret"). If you want something, simply think about it, and in time it will come to you. It gives many examples of areas where you can expect to see results (money, relationships, health) and many anecdotes of people who've accomplished impossible things because they set their mind to it.

My own opinion is that it's more or less bs, at least all the metaphysical mumbo-jumbo. There is evidence that framing your outlook allows you to notice opportunities that you otherwise would have missed, but it's not magic or some principle of the universe...

I've been thinking really hard about how I needed a raise. I asked this week and the boss was totally receptive to the idea (that is to say it hasn't happened yet, but I didn't get shot down either).

Did this happen because I was thinking about it?

Hell yeah!

Did I somehow "attract" a raise by thinking about it?

I doubt it.

It sounds more like the movie is attributing an incorrect reasoning to the idea that you get the things you set your mind to get. It's obvious that deciding to do or thinking about something increases your chances of aquiring it. You would have much less chance of identifying the avenues by which something could be aquired if you weren't worried about it in the first place.

amen.

if this were true then lately i've been having alot of good things happen but it feels like for every step forward there's 2 steps back. is that cause of some dumb law of attraction? shens

if this was true than everyone in the movie would be alot more successful than stuck making that dumb movie

Well just like when "What the Bleep do we know" came along, of course my Mother insist that this is some life changing event and says I "need" to watch it (never did).

After looking into it just a little, I really have no desire to even consider watching this.

Anyone else have any input about this that's seen it?

AT geeks think about poon all the time, yet they don't get any, theory is BS.

not really they think about general poon, they need to think of some very specific and tangeable poon..... (not Jalba but the bagle shop girl who smiles at them in the morning)

😕

Just got an e-mail about it so thought I'd look into it before blindly accepting this movie as being anything more than complete B.S. like most of this nature are.
