Simply put: Get a better Graphics Card :p

I've noticed that after 6 months of playing DOD:S, that my average was around 1.2 KPD. Low of 30FPS and high of 60FPS, running a Radeon 9200/X800XT.

Now with my C2D system, I have an Asus Radeon X1900XT. I get over 100FPS 80% of the time. My KPD now is 1.6. Altho I do have ups and downs (KPD), I sometimes do some crazy sh!t (3/1 KPD). Those extra FPS REALLY help!

I get what you're saying, PC but really, the idea is to get a monster PC and use low settings except resolution and AA. Like BF2 on all low except 14xSSAA, 16xHQAF @ 1920x1080 or something like that :p

actually lower your graphics to like nothing and get a CRT ...

That is exactly how I used to play UT. :) Most of the top players in FPS games don't actually have such great systems, but they turn down all the graphical options and get awesome framerates anyway.

LOL! Yea, I think step one is to make sure you have a good connection. A few years ago I had to quit playing FT online because the vast majority of people had cable or DSL and all I could get was dial-up. I was so far behind the game it wasn't funny!

I always thought that having no job and playing games for 16 hours a day was the key. But then again, I wouldn't know. ;)

That is what did it for me and my KD is usually never below 3:1. Now I get banned from servers all the time.

PC Surgeon upgraded his system so he had a slight chance against me...he doesn't like being dominated by the rocket too much ;)

you can get the same effect if you simply turn down the AA AF, anf most other effect. no need to spend more money.

OH! How dare you! IIRC there smarty pants, you lead me 6-4. I got the first 3 kills on you with the garand, and thats my worst (most favorite to use though) weapon.

Wanna see some skills? Check me out with my Browning and a couple nades :p

Oh, and I played a few times with one of the UCF members, I'm sure he doesnt know who I am. I think his name was "Toxic"?

NIC (Network Interface Card?). Can someone show me a good one to buy? Or is it not a good cost/ping ratio?

In case you havent noticed everyone was being sarcastic about the killer NIC. I dont really know what kind of performance improvements it gives but the improvements better be massive to justify the 280.00 price tag.

i agree to the fact that you need good fps to play well...but it seems that for me...i play better when the graphics are on high because its more appealing....low details is **** and it doesnt feel confortable...

That's the key. I did that when I was really serious into Quake 3 - just kind of developed it on my own before I found out other people were doing the same thing.

That may help in close quarters but then the question is will you even get a chance to see your enemy before you are killed (from long distance)... and the answer is no. ;)

I've been saying for years that a high framerate is an advantage for online FPSes.

Of course the "human eye can only see 24/30 FPS" rubbish still comes up from time to time.

lol
I started playing CS:S more then a year ago. I play it probably too much (i'm in high school, graduating next year :D) so even with a job I get a lot of free time during the week sometimes. So I just fire up CS and play.

Normaly my KD ratio is anywere between 1.5:1 (on a bad day) to 2:1 (on a good day) and the norm is about 1.65:1.
And the only sever i pretty much play is a gungame sever so thats were I got the ratios from so I'm not sure how GG effects it but I think it does.
Why does GG effect it??????
Well, I seem to go really good (like 23-8) but then I hit nade level and knife level and it just keeps going up!!!! :|

That time you played me I was probably playing the worst I've ever played in a long time. Too much Oblivion. Bring it on, this weekend ;)

And yeah, Toxic is a friend of mine. He used to suck really bad in the K:D department, but was good at caps. We built him a new rig so he could actually play the game instead of watch a slideshow on his old system (XP 2500+ w/Radeon 9600), and he went from sucking really bad to just sucking...so framerate does help :p

I used to be of those that said "I can't tell the difference between 30 to 50 FPS", But I sure as hell notice when it drops from 100 to 80 FPS.

In all actuality, its not just the Graophics Card, it's the combination of CPU, GPU, RAM and Connection speed.
