Seal Team Six doesn't adhere to any military dress code, looking at them you would never think they were in the military.

ya, for all we know, it might've even been the delta soldiers that were involved too.

but why would the military release more information than needed?

status quo. never rely on public sources, completely, ever - writers and people on the upper chain consider us as rats for the feeding, sadly.

Sounds like the U.S. government has some toys it's not yet willing to admit it has...

Stealth Helos Used In Osama Raid

Wow, they really torched her. Not surprising given the nature of it. Sounds like they got hit with an RPG from point blank and stalled.

Do ya'll think all the copters were this?

Or was this a supporting "drone copter?"

The reason I ask, is that wouldn't there have been deaths if the coptor crashed? People rarely survive copter crashes.

And, sucks that they didn't blow up the tail-feather too.

My understanding is that it was in a low hover with that wall behind it as seen in the pic. RPG was fired from very short range. Explosion caused engine to stall, and because the wall was close, there was not enough of an air cushion underneath for it to stay in flight. The *-60 does not have retractable landing gear, so the crash was not that hard.

The helicopter suffered mechanical failure. No RPG was fired at it.

Blackhawks are also designed to take a crash if you can manage to get it to land on the wheels.

Yea, see that doesn't fly with me.

RPG at 1:00 AM within seconds of the team arriving on the scene indicates a well prepared and sophisticated defense force, which I don't think we have here with 4 dead, etc.

Plus, I think there are dead and injured in this copter crash (at least the pilots), but the only thing we have heard is that it was blown up on leaving.

With it's radical design etc., I'll christen it "stealth drone killer copter." :)

Do you have a link to the RPG being fired? I have read/heard this as well, but have not found where I read it so maybe there was no RPG in play. Rudee states that there was no RPG fired so I am not sure. Just want to find out either way.

Why am I picturing the practice run sessions in The Dirty Dozen?

Because the creators were about on the same level in terms of their grasp of reality as this online journal quoted here only I think they were not as challenged.
