Sucks for somebody who buys in April, but I got mine in Dec, and I'll will have had ~$100 worth of fun by then. Whaaaa, Intel is dropping the prices on the C2Ds and it'll have a 4mb cache, I'll never buy again. Quit 'yer bitchin'.

I think the main point to all the bitching is that console hardware is supposed to be unchanged till an entirely new generation comes out.

Hopefully, the HDMI isn't going to be a "required" feature for any games. I'll just slap a 120gb HDD on my existing system and be happy till the Xbox720. :)

Since it's only purpose is for HD output, it shouldn't be required for anything.besides that.

I'm still calling shens on this :)

Having a price of the Xbox360 for more than $400 w/out HD-DVD built in would be fvcking dumb as shlt on Microsoft's part. This would put them as more expensive as the PS3 with the HD-DVD addon.

Increasing the price of over $400 just seems like it would be a horrible move on their part right now, especially considering they are dominating the PS3 in sales as is.

I agree...I see no reason to put this out at over $400. This system should come in at $400 with the other SKU's being reduced. That would be one way to increase sales.

MS...don't get greedy and fvck this up! You've got a good thing going...keep it up and lower the prices.

Yeah with my 360 dead, I'm holding out on this one to surface. Only way I'll pay 479 is with the hd-dvd drive built in.

hell dump the core sku. put the current premium at 299 and this new one at 399.

Is that true? Then I offer purbeast0 $10 to say that there's no way this will include the HD-DVD drive and wireless for $400. :p

Damn, the geek part of me wants to upgrade my current Premium 360 even though HDMI isn't even an issue on my 720p/1080i LCD TV. If it is indeed black, that would be sexy as hell though.

Can you give an Xbox 360 a network name? If so, I think I just found mine...

I have a 50" 1080P Samsung DLP and I noticed some 360 games coming out in 1080p like GRAW2. How much better would it be?

They'll run exactly the same on the revisioned 360 as the old ones, with less chance of overheating.

for $479 it better have a HD-DVD player built-in.

Further, why in the hell would a 120GB HD cost 'a little under $200'?????????

You can buy, a Frys, a 400GB HD for $99 out the door!!!! and that is just for one unit.

I'm not Microsoft, who could say, call Seagate and say, 'Hey, I want to purchase 3,000,000 120GB hard drives and I'm willing to pay $35 a HD. Then let me turn around, throw some plastic on it and charge $179.

MS has stated repeatedly that HD-DVD will not be included. A big reason is that the read speeds suck for gaming.

That's for a 3.5" drive. The 360 uses a 2.5" drive. Granted, $199.99 is still too much but 120GB HDDs are going for $80-$90 on Newegg.

Microsoft To Announce The Xbox 360 Elite

If this becomes a reality and it truly retails at $479 ... I will really question why MS made the decision. They basically are at a point they could put the nail in the coffin against the PS3, but if they make it MORE expensive than $400 and it doesn't include the HD-DVD player, they are taking a step back in my eyes.

But Kudos to MS if this becomes a reality.

I'm waiting to hear the details on the Elite. Supposedly, the black version is a limited run that will come with extras like a wireless headset. If the Elite gets pushed down to the Premium price afterwards (minus the bundled extras) and the Premium drops down to the Core price, that will make more sense. Keeping the Elite at $480 makes no sense whatsoever.

See I might agree with this kind of talk, but not to the point if this is limited edition like engadget has indicated. They say only expect possibly a few hundred thousand at best. If that is the case, those few hundred thousand will be snapped up on launch week. So here one week, gone another. Rumor has it they may input this new tech into all the consoles this fall with a possible price cut in-line with the rollout of 65nm, but of course MS isn't going to announce that at this point either. I do think however a price cut will happen this fall.
