that's what I'm using right now too. Is there much of a difference between HDMI and VGA, or are they the same since it's digital output?

VGA isn't digital, it's analog. Realistically, you won't see much of a difference between the two.

Limiting it to HDMI would be foolish on microsoft's part.

By the looks of the picture (if this is actually real), there is still the standard output which will allow you to hook up a dongle with everything from composite to VGA connections...so you should be fine.

Aye, having the HDMI out on the propriety cable and having the 2nd single HDMI out option actually makes a whole lot more sense.

Pretty much every console in existence has gone through a hardware refresh over its lifespan; missing out on a HDMI connector and a cooler/quieter CPU, which certainly desirable, is an acknowledged part of the gamble. I'm not upset in the least.

Same, but I do need a bigger HDD, like today. :D

People are upset, because consoles go through re-designs after 4 or 5 years. Not after 1 year.

This is horrible news if true. The one great thing about consoles is that you know when you buy a unit it is going to last for a good number of years until the next version boasting superior graphics/tech is unleashed. Now it looks like we get to buy entirely new systems as opposed to simpe add-ons such as hard drives.

How is this horrible? All it gives you is the HDMI, cooler running processor and a 120GB hard drive. You can still play the same games you did from version 1 to 2. The cooling running processor is nothing the end user will notice, and the extra hard drive can be purchased separately. The only real differece is the HDMI connection, which I'm sure most of the average users won't even use.

Where's the problem?

That's not true at all. Read about the PS2's hardware revisions on Wikipedia.

Perhaps the idea that HDMI is going to cost around $400 instead of a $50 cable. Necessary? No. Wanted by some, sure.

Jealousy? Are you freaking kidding me? The only thing I care about is the HDMI output. I cannot use my xbox or hd-dvd drive to upconvert my DVDs because I do not have a television with a VGA input.

I have a funny feeling MS might release an external 120gig HDD, along with HDMI output cable for all you whiners who bought the earlier model. More money to be made in that.

If thats the only thing you cared about then why did you buy the console knowing that it did not have that? How can you not use the HD-DVD drive? It doesn't require HDMI to get hi-def. Maybe it can't do 1080p over component, but is your TV even 1080p?

Dude...don't get your pants in a wad...MS hasn't officially announced anything. And NSF4's analogy is right on. The same games can be played on both systems. I'd also REALLY be surprised if MS does go with HDMI that they wouldn't offer a dongle for old systems.

You bought the Xbox 360 without the promise of HDMI support. You aren't owed anything. To complain NOW is downright childish.

Everyone was already anticipating a price drop on the Premium. Probably $300 for the Premium. Who knows what the price would be for this Zephyr if the rumor turns out to be true. Who knows if the Core would still be around or if it would receive a price drop.

I also do not regret my Xbox 360 purchase at all. 1080p is useless to me. That 120GB drive sounds awesome, though, I may have to pick it up. They will surely offer it as a separate purchase so 20GB users can upgrade. That's the whole reason the drive are an external add-on, so it can be upgraded.

No one knows. Personally I wouldn't expect it to do anything as they won't be manufacturing the old systems anymore and so will probably just let supply go low for a month or two to let most of the previous versions to get off the shelves and then drop a large supply of the new version behind a media push to gain a boost in sales. I didn't notice if it said anything about a change in size or anything. I doubt we'll see an integrated HD-DVD drive yet as the format war is still up in the air and I think MS despite claiming officially that they're fully behind HD-DVD is waiting to see which side wins and then cover their bases that way.

MS has stated repeatedly that the HD DVD drive would not be integrated. Two reasons:

1) The transfer rates on HD DVD drives (and Blu-Ray) drives aren't fast enough to keep load times reasonable. The PS3 gets around this by installing games to the HDD.

2) MS supports HD DVD but doesn't want 360 owners to get stuck with it if it doesn't survive the battle with Blu-Ray.

Who said I was owed anything? Did I ever say that or are you making assumptions? I reserve the right to be pissed off and that's exactly what I am right now. I also have the right to decide to sell the xbox and just go a different direction. I never said MS owed me anything so stop makin assumptions.
