wow....

I remember those days. To think how much more powerful my PC is and how much cheaper it was.

heh heh funny thing is hard drives haven't improved too much. They were up to 10k rpm then, and that's still pretty fast :p Otherwise, fun blast from the past. Did they mention the vid card? Wonder if it was a Voodoo. I LOVED my Voodoo2. When I first saw MechWarrior playing on a 3dfx card, my mind was officially blown.

Nope, but from the timeline I'm thinking that it was either a Riva 128, or a Voodoo2. Much as I like ATI, I have to admit that the Rage Pro was not really competitive in the high-end market.

Yeah, I started watching Screen Savers just after Patrick replaced her. I'm pretty sure she got moved to Extended Play (now a crapified version called Xplay).

Clips like these make me sad to remember how much they ruined the show and TechTV in general. I watched it until a little after they moved "upstairs" to their loft set. Then Patrick left and I gave up on it completely and then it just went downhill from there.

looks like there are two video cards in there, but I didn't see an SLI cable. So who knows.

3 vid cards it looks like. They don't say what, but it looks like dual Voodoo2's PCI and and a 2D card (Matrox maybe?) in the AGP slot.

What's shown in the vid is a P2-300 on an Asus 440LX board with 128MBs of PC100 (probably). And yeah, they keep making a big deal about the 128 megs but hey those sticks probably cost around $500 back then. And that 9GB SCSI drive was at least $300. Voodoo2's sold for $300 each.

Wow, it's been a long time since I last watched the original Screen Savers, before ZDTV got taken over by cnet.

What system was everyone running back then?

I think I had a Pentium 200MMX, and eventually upgraded to a Celeron 300A/Abit mobo.
That was the last time I also had an ISA sound card, the AWE 64.

Thought it was 640k? :)

The machine in this show rocks.

Trying to think about when I bought my P 200 Pro, 32mb ram, 4 gb hdd, etc.. etc.. think that thing ran me like 2700-2900 with shipping. Damn, those were the days.

dude the screensavers are the shit. I watched them on techtv probably a couple of years before it became g4 and the screensavers became AOTS, which fricking sucks(Olivia is hot thought). I actually learned about pricewatch.com on that too.

Ah if I only had a time machine. I'd sell the contents of my hard drive to microsoft for a few billion, and my computer to the assorted manufacturers for even more.
