The Scout is Back!

I had always recalled memories of a Scout a college-friend had around 1972. And I know I got my wires crossed about its manufacture, thinking it was Toyota. But now I remember International Harvester.

IronWing -- what's wrong with your FJ that it needs replacing? I can see that the gas-mileage EPA spec is just a sliver better than I get on my old Trooper. Of course, if you work for a living and pile up more miles in a year than I do, you would have a different perspective.

I just know that I cannot afford an EV Scout. Or Bronco. Or 4Runner -- any hybrid or EV off the assembly line in the last two years or the next.
 
i like the look. Can they beat Rivian on price? I'm not sure body on frame has any advantage. would like to see the "truck" version, guessing a 4 foot useless bed.
 
Build by Volkswagen. That alone kills it for me. The original IH Scout wasn't all that impressive in its day...I never cared much for anything built under the IH brand...passenger vehicles, OTR trucks...and definitely not their heavy equipment...never had anything to do with the "Cornbinder" farm equipment.
I'm definitely not in the target market for these.

I REALLY hate seeing an iconic American brand being re-branded by a German company.
I wasn't too thrilled with BMW picked up the British "Cooper" brand ~20 years ago. The "new" Minis are nothing like the old English Mini Coopers. (and that's not necessarily a bad thing...they were kind of shitty cars...but fun as hell to drive)

Even at $60k, a 5-year zero-interest loan is going to be a thousand bucks a month lol. I gotta stop buying avocado toast!!
