As far as the blade feeling smooth when you shave that feels nice, but it doesn't seem to shave as close as the Gillette Mach3. And the whole 4 blades thing is way overrated. 3 blades is good enough. The last blade cuts very little hair just as the first blade slows down my stroke. The Quattro makes very little use of the 4th blade. The only thing I like about this shaver is that it seems to glide down your face so easily, unlike the Mach3, but that's attributed to the 8 very fine wires running perpendicular to the face. This may also be the reason why it doesn't give you that close a shave however.

Update:
So I, being unhappy with the Quattro, decided to go out and buy a Mach3. Especially since I saw the Cool Blue version - it's so sexy. Anyway, I lathered and then shaved with the Quattro. Check this: I noticed most of the hair was being caught by the first bottom blade. Maybe about 30% of the time, the other 2 following ones were being used and the 4th was even less. So I shaved and then lathered again and got out my Mach3 and I was just amazed. First, the Mach3 is so light compared to that monster truck of a Quattro. Mach3 is very easy to maneuver. Second, I like to clear the blades after each stroke with hot water and I don't burn myself on the handle like on the Quattro. Since the hair was tiny at the moment, mostly lather was caught, but I did see some lengthier hairs caught by the blade in more than a few areas. Overall, my face looked smoother. Feels pretty fckin smooth too, almost like a baby's butt. What more could you desire.
In my opinion the Mach3 crushes the Quattro with ease. Is Schick the no.2 wet shaver supplier cause there is no competition, in 3rd because there is absolutely no reason to ever own a Quattro, or even any other blade other than the Mach3.
